Confessions of a Black White Supremacist.

I have been called a white supremacist. Funny thing is that I am black. Very black, in fact. Because when I go back generations in my family tree I can find not a white man or woman in sight. No Portuguese, Spanish or English , all white civilizations who, at one time or another, colonized my country of birth, Ghana. I am 100% black African. And proud of it. I have never believed or verbalized that a white person is superior to a black person just by virtue of their skin color. Never.

So why would someone, many people, to be honest, call me a white supremacist. Of course, they don’t call me that to my face. Instead they call me a white supremacist on radio, on TV and on social media. But how? Here is how: they bundle me up and throw me into a large basket of deplorables. A nebulous bunch of Americans that have one thing in common: they dared to exercise their civil and God-given right to like and support a certain Donald J. Trump.

On Twitter, Facebook and Google, many a tweet, Facebook post or blog post continue to yell at me: “you are a white supremacist!” I have been compared to a Nazi, to Al Queda terrorist and called a domestic terrorist; dangerous, not fit for polite (or any) society. Me? How? What? Why? Huh? I was very confused, to say the least.

So I consulted an old friend, Merriam-Webster to find out exactly who a white supremacist is. Maybe there is a new definition that I did not know or I had not thought about. Also, my query was necessary because the phrase “white supremacist” has been trending on social media, especially since January 6, 2021.

This is what I found in the dictionary. Merriam-Webster says a white supremacist is “a person who believes that the white race is inherently superior to other races and that white people should have control over people of other races.” Just as I thought. It is not a nice thing to be called a white supremacist.

United States of America. The land of the free and the home of the brave. The land of the free. Where we are free to say we want, worship which God we choose of worship no God at all. The land where we are free to support any politician we want or not support any politician at all. The land of the free?

Are we free to say we support President Trump? Or are we going to be canceled because of we choose to support a particular person? Approximately 74 millions are said to have voted for Trump. Are we all white supremacist? Racist, sexist, etc etc? I have heard it said that if you support Trump, then you must be all the media accuse him of. Really? I mean, really?

Sometimes I feel like I am in a dream that I am going to wake up from. Is this really America- the land of the free and the home of the brave? People can call for you to be fired from your job, take away your means of livelihood, boycott your business or even kill you (I am not joking), because you support a President?

Here is my confession. I support President Trump. I voted for him and I believe he has done a lot for this country. I also believe that we are one country under God. I believe in freedom. I believe in liberty. And I believe in God. I believe my fellow Americans who have a different political philosophy will realize that we are not enemies. We are fellow countrymen exercsing our rights that were given to all of us by God. Freedom of speech and worship. Let us not hate and verbally abuse our fellow citizens because they believe differently.

God bless the United states of America.
